MEET THE FOUNDER— NAOMI “NICKIE”
I went to college not expecting to own my business. Sure, my grandfather and mother had their own businesses for as long as I could remember, but the idea of running my own never came to me. I worked with children and at a banquet hall during my college years. When I was going to school for my Associate of Arts in Communication degree, I took various classes in filmmaking and broadcasting. I was always interested in these topics as I grew up taking pictures and posting YouTube videos. As I was in school for my Bachelors of Arts in Communication and Business, I took a class that really peaked my interest. We would go in New York City every week and meet up with non-profits. Our class project was to work with our charity, mine was The Bowery Mission which is a homeless shelter and develop a marketing plan for them.
As graduation loomed, I still felt stuck. I knew I had no intentions of working a corporate 9-5, so what does every nervous graduate do? They go to grad school! During my Master of Business Administration courses, I learned all about how businesses worked. Cool - but, I wanted more. Just when I was about to lose hope, my capstone project made all the lights go off. My project was to create a marketing plan for a small business. After I completed that project, I started onboarding my own clients. Now I work with a variety of business owners who keep my creativity flowing!
